Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College women's soccer team will open their home season on Sunday afternoon when they host the visiting Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College.
The Tornados will open the home season with a record of 1-0 after defeating the Erskine College Flying Fleet on Thursday 5-3. Brevard was led by junior Bailey Varley (Concord, N.C.) who recorded her second career hat-trick. Sophomore Allie Hovis (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman Elena Crowe (Candler, N.C.) each netted a goal of their own as well.
Freshman Crissy Moran (Franklin County, VA.) made the start in goal for the Lady Tornados as she picked up her first win as a collegiate athlete.
The Belmont Abbey Crusaders are 1-0 after a double-overtime thriller with the Catawba College Indians. The Crusaders' junior forward Rebecca Mateo (Cotati, CA) scored the only goal of the match in the 108th minute which gave the Abbey a 1-0 edge.
Game time for the women's home opener is set for 4 p.m. at the BC Soccer Field on-campus at Brevard College and it will follow the men's soccer home opener starting at 2 p.m. against the Mount Olive Trojans.
