Brevard, N.C. - Head coach Shannon Reid has released the Brevard College women’s basketball schedule for the upcoming 2010-11 season, as announced by the BC Sports Information Department.

The Tornados drew a tough schedule facing off with an NCAA Division I opponent as well as six teams that reached the NCAA Divison II Tournament in 2009-10.

Brevard is led by returning starters Holli Flippo, Anna Schlobohm, and Amanda Whitaker. The Tornados will compete in 28 games this season, with only 10 of them to be played at Boshamer Gymnasium. Their first home game won’t be until November 30th when they play host to Erskine.

The Tornados are looking to build on their 9-19 season last year. They were just 3-13 in their second season as member of the South Atlantic Conference.

Brevard will open up the 2010-11 season with a home scrimmage against the Clayton State Lakers of the Peach Belt Conference on October 30th, and then they will head into their regular season play.

The Tornados head to Morrow, Ga. to open their season up with a game in a conference challenge with the Peach Belt. Brevard will square-off with North Georgia in the challenge on November 12th, and then face-off with an NCAA Division II Tournament qualifier in Clayton State the following evening.
Brevard will continue on the road until the end of November when they face NCAA Division I school UNC-Asheville on November 29th.

The home opener is set for the next night when Brevard will host Erskine College at Boshamer Gymnasium.

Following the home opener, the Tornados hit the road again to open conference play. Brevard will open South Atlantic play with NCAA Tournament qualifier Anderson (S.C.) on December 4th. The Tornados follow with their second conference game when they travel to Tusculum. They will take on the NCAA Tournament quarterfinalist on December 30th. Brevard will play against King College on January 3rd, before heading home again.

The Tornados will continue their South Atlantic Conference schedule through the remainder of the season and finish on Senior Day. Senior Day scheduled for February 26th, when Brevard takes on Wingate.

The South Atlantic Conference Tournament is scheduled to start on March 2nd, and continue through the sixth of the month.
