Newberry, S.C. - Jordei Osby led the Tornados with seven kills and Kortney Conner and Jamie Atkinson each had six, but it was not enough as Brevard fell on the road in SAC competition on Saturday to Newberry, 25-15, 25-23, 25-16.

Brevard held the early lead in the first set, going up 4-2 on Schoonover’s serve on kills by Stevenson and Atkinson, but the Wolves fought back, tying the match up at five. Erin Rollins tied the match up again at seven for the Tornados four points later with a kill, but the Wolves went on a 5-1 run on their way to a 12-8 lead and the Tornados were unable to come any closer in falling 25-15.
Newberry opened up the second set by scoring the first four points of the set and held the lead through most of the set before the Tornados came back on a kill by Jamie Atkinson and a Newberry attack error to tie the set up at 17. Newberry went up by four by recording the next four points on kills by Parrish and Harris, but Brevard brought it back to within one on Sydney Yeoman’s serve as Osby placed in another kill to put the set at 23-22. The Tornados had another kill in the set by Conner, but a BC attack error closed out the set in favor of the Wolves.
The first 18 points of the third set were evenly split before Newberry went on a 7-2 run to take control on their way to the sweep.
The Tornados return home on Wednesday, September 22nd, as they host Belmont Abbey in Boshamer Gymnasium. First serve between Brevard and the Crusaders is set for 7 p.m.
