Wingate, N.C. - Ashlie Morrison led the Tornados with nine kills and Jamie Atkinson had five blocks, but it was not enough as Brevard fell in conference action to Wingate on Tuesday evening, 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.
Morrison led Brevard (3-21, 0-15 SAC), hitting 22.2 percent on the evening, while leading the Tornados with her nine kills. Jordei Osby added five kills, while Bethany Stevenson set up the BC attack with 16 set assists. Defensively, Rebecca Schoonover led the Brevard backline with nine digs, while Atkinson led all players with five blocks. Erin Rollins added four blocks and Osby had three to round out the statistics for the Tornados.
Wingate (22-1, 15-0 SAC) was led by Cory McGowan’s match-high 10 kills in capturing their 61st straight South Atlantic Conference victory. Stormi Gale and Lauren Billo added seven kills, while Liz Willis and Amanda Clark combined for 25 set assists. Maggie Malone led the Bulldogs with a match-high 10 digs and Gale led Wingate at the net with three blocks in the match.
Brevard is back on the court on Friday, October 29th, as they head to Salisbury, N.C. to take on Catawba College. First serve between the Tornados and the Indians is set for 6:30 p.m.
