Dahlonega, Ga. - North Georgia placed three goals in the net in the first half and added a fourth in the second half to end the Brevard College winning streak on the road on Wednesday evening.
With weather playing a factor in the contest, Brevard (3-13-1) was able to place five shots in the game with Renato Barbosa leading the way for the Tornados with two, with one of his shots on target. Alec Darcey, Jaime Villacis and Landon Reid also fired shots in the game, while in goal, Pauli Jussila made four saves in between the pipes.
North Georgia (8-5-3) was led by Stan Soulen, Juan Hurtado and Max Angel as the trio had three shots apiece in the game, with each scoring a goal in the contest. Gray Phelps added a goal in the contest for the Saints, while Rade Tanaskovic received the victory, stopping the lone BC shot on target in the match.
North Georgia got on the board in the 26 minute mark in the first half as Hurtado placed in a goal off the pass from Ben Tayi to put the Saints up 1-0. Phelps added his goal three minutes later off of a free kick to put NGCSU up 2-0. Angel completed the scoring in the first half with a goal off the assist from Andre Brunelli, giving the hosts the 3-0 lead as the teams went into the locker room.
Soulen concluded the scoring in the match for the hosts with a penalty kick at the 53:27 mark, giving the Saints the 4-0 lead.
The Tornados attempted a comeback in the second half as Villacis, Barbosa and Reid all fired shots in the direction of the net in the second half, but the Tornados were unable to find the goal in falling, 4-0.
Brevard concludes the 2010 regular season on Saturday, October 30th, as they make the trip to Salisbury, N.C. to take on Catawba College. Kickoff between the SAC opponents is set for 7:30 p.m.
