Salisbury, N.C. - Kortney Conner led Brevard with eight kills on the evening, but the Tornados were unable to overcome Catawba as the Indians hit 51.9 percent in Goodman Gymnasium to defeat Brevard, 25-16, 25-5, 25-10.
Brevard (3-22, 0-16 SAC) was led by Conner on offense as the freshman outside hitter hit 43.8 percent for the match. Jordei Osby added four kills while Erin Rollins had three to pace the BC offensive attack. Bethany Stevenson recorded 17 set assists in the match, while Rebecca Schoonover and Conner both had a service ace. Defensively, Schoonover led with a team-high nine digs, while Jamie Atkinson and Rollins each had a block.
Kaitlyn Whitmer led Catawba (12-12, 7-9 SAC) with 11 kills in the match as nine Indians recorded points. Jordan Raye led the Indians with 22 set assists, while Alli Parrish added 11. Defensively, Lainey Edwards led the back row with eight digs, while Taylor Doss led at the net with four blocks.
The Tornados return home for a non-conference match on Tuesday, November 2nd, as they begin their final four-game home stand to close out the 2010 regular season. First serve between the Tornados and the Montreat Cavaliers in Boshamer Gymnasium is set for 7 p.m.
