Meet the world-renowned BC Cross Country and Track & Field Coach on December 2, from 6 - 8 p.m.

Brevard, N.C. - Quotations Coffee Café and the Brevard College Athletic Department will be hosting a special welcoming reception for world-renowned Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, Dr. Jack Daniels on Thursday, December 2nd, from 6 – 8 p.m.

Daniels, a two-time Olympian, was named the NCAA Division III’s Running Coach of the Century, as well as Runner’s World Magazine "World’s Best Coach" and has been involved in both collegiate and post-collegiate track and cross-country for 35 years, coaching 30 individual DIII NCAA National Champions, eight NCAA National Team Champions and 130 All-Americans.

"When I was told that he (Daniels) was coming to Brevard College, I had to ask BC Athletic Director Kim Pate, ‘You don’t mean THE Jack Daniels, do you?'" commented Mark Peddy, local business owner. "Brevard is fortunate to have a competitor of Olympic caliber and coach of some of the top elite runners in the country coaching our team."

Daniels has a number of personal accomplishments, having received both silver and bronze medals in the Olympics in the Modern Pentathlon competition. He has also received a World Championship Bronze Medal and is a two-time U.S. National Champion and was the first foreign winner of the Swedish National Championship in the same event.

"Running under Jack has been a runner's dream! He has helped my team and I improve a lot, not just physically, but as individuals as well," said senior cross country runner, Tiffen Tapia. "He is by far one of the best coaches I ever had and I am very grateful to have known him and his wife, Nancy."

In addition to his coaching ability, Daniels is an accomplished author, featured speaker and researcher, having written four books on running, including his most recent title, Daniels’ Running Formula, 2nd ed. He has also had over 50 articles published in scientific journals and also seen numerous articles on running published in popular magazines. Daniels is also featured speaker at coaches’ clinics, running camps and symposia that deals with training.

The community of Brevard is invited to welcome Coach Daniels and his wife Nancy, to the Western North Carolina region.
