Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados baseball team volunteered with the Twilight tour in downtown Brevard on Saturday, December 4th for the sixth consecutive year, while the entire Brevard College Athletic Department took part in the annual Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade.
The baseball team split up in three groups, filling up luminaries with sand and candles before lining the streets downtown. The groups also went around, making sure the candles stayed lit, as well as spending time interacting with the crowd, before coming back at the end of the evening to help with the cleanup.
Head Baseball Coach Matt McCay had the following to say, "This was a great opportunity for Brevard College Baseball to get out in the community and help be a part of a great festival and a great organization. The Heart of Brevard and the Parks and Recreation Department do such a great job of making this festival and Twilight tour a great event." He also commented, "We are just very happy that our players got an opportunity to give back and help out in setting up the luminary candles. This is such a great community and town and we are proud to help in any way we can."
The Tornados had over 300 student-athletes and staff members participate in the parade in what has become an annual tradition for Brevard College athletes to reach out to the community and share their holiday spirit as classes come to a close for the fall semester.
