Aiken, S.C. - The Brevard College softball team was swept on Saturday after traveling to USC-Aiken. The Pacers were able to take down Brevard 1-0 in the opening game in nine innings. The Tornados fell in the second game 7-2. The Tornados fall to 2-2 on the season with the pair of losses.
Game 1: USC-Aiken 1, Brevard 0 (9 Innings)
Martika Elmore (Fayetteville, N.C.) threw 8.1 innings of scoreless ball until a pair of doubles in the ninth inning took down the Tornados.
Elmore went 8.1 innings and struck out seven. With the loss Elmore moved to 1-1 on the season. She scattered six hits in the loss.
At the plate, the Tornados had just four hits through nine innings of play.
Game 2: USC-Aiken 7, Brevard 2
Alyssa Miller (Davie, Fla.) started game two for the Tornados. She went 3.1 innings for the Tornados. Miller was touched for six runs, five earned in her first loss of the season. Miller fell to 1-1. Elmore came in relief for Miller and threw the final 2.2 innings. She surrendered just one run.
Offensively, Brittany Fowler (Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA) led the way. The freshman outfielder went 3-of-4 with an RBI and a triple. Sarah Carlos (Eagle River, Alaska) added three hits of her own, while Becca Curlee (Eagle River, Alaska) chipped in with an RBI.
The Tornados are back in action on Wednesday, February 16th when they play host to Milligan. The doubleheader is set to start at 2 p.m. at the BC Softball Field.
