Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College women's golf program made history on Sunday afternoon, as the Tornados teed-off for the first time in Brevard College history. The Tornados competed in day one of the Glenn Cannon Fall Invitational which is hosted by both Brevard College and Montreat College.
After day one, the Tornados find themselves in third-place, trailing both Mars Hill and Montreat. The Lions of Mars Hill are in first-place, shooting a combined team score of 354 for round one. Montreat is in second with a first round score of 403, while the Tornados in their first ever tournament are third with a combined team round of 450.
BC freshman Alisiya Klochkova is leading the way, as she carded a first round 85 to put her on top of the leaderboard heading into Monday's play. Mars Hill's Samantha Patton and Carrie Huskins are close on the heels of Klochkova, as Patton shot an 86, edging out Huskins first round score of 87.
Also competing for the Tornados are Erin Craig, who carded an 110, and Erika Kellems who turned in a 150 in her first ever collegiate round. Not to be outdone, juniors Jennifer Brown and Katie Brown turned in rounds of 121 and 134, both competing in their first ever collegiate golf tournament.
All three teams will be back in action for round two tomorrow with the tee-times slated for around 12:30 p.m.
