Bristol, Tenn. - Caleb Welborn had the top finish for Brevard at the Tornado Cycling Classic, hosted by King College, coming in second place overall in the Road Race in the men’s B group, and Brandon Milet had a top five finish in the road race to lead Brevard on the weekend.
Bryan Underwood and Michael Palevo were the top finishers for Coach Thad Walker in the A group Road Race, crossing the finish line after each other with Underwood leading the way in 12th and Palevo in his tracks in 13th overall. Corey Meyer and Marshal Hartley rounded out the group in the field, with Meyer crossing the line 22nd overall, while Hartley was unable to finish the course.
Welborn led the men’s B group, finishing behind Lees-McRae’s Trevor MacLean in second place overall for the silver medalist spot. Milet rounded out the duo of riders for the Tornados, finishing in the top five to place on the podium in the event.
Four Tornados took the field in the men’s A group on Sunday’s Criterium, with Meyer leading the way finishing sixth overall. Palevo and Underwood also recorded top 20 finishes on the day, finishing 19th and 20th overall respectively, while Hartley narrowly missed out, coming 22nd overall.
Milet led the Tornados in the B group, finishing just outside the podium with an eighth place result, while Welborn placed 13th overall.
The Tornados head to the Conference Championships next weekend, hosted by Mercer University in Macon, Ga.
