Brevard, N.C. - Women’s Basketball Coach Shannon Reid, in conjunction with the Brevard College Athletic Department, is pleased to announce Lacey Singletary has committed to come to Brevard College and play for the Tornados in the 2011-2012 season.
"We are very excited to welcome Lacey into our basketball family," commented Coach Reid. "Her ability to defend and rebound will allow her to make an immediate impact on our program."
Singletary comes to Brevard College from the Oak Ridge Military Academy in N.C., where she has been completing a post-graduate year while going through rehabilitation for an injury.
Previous to Oak Ridge, Singletary was a standout player at Eastern Alamance High School where she earned All-Conference honors and was on the All-District Third Team. In her senior season with the Eagles, she set the single game blocks record at Eastern Alamance with nine, and averaged nine points, eight rebounds and 4.5 steals per game. She was also an All-Region Honorable Mention performer.
Off the court, Singletary was a standout in the classroom as she was on the A-B Honor Roll and the Gold Wreath Honor Roll.
Singletary is expected to step in and help provide a presence in the post for the Tornados, as the 6-1 athlete can contribute both offensively and defensively.
"Lacey had many schools interested in her and I want to credit my assistant coach, Terrence Baxter for his relentless efforts in the recruiting process," said Coach Reid. "We look forward to Lacey’s successful career with the Tornados."
