Brevard, N.C. - With less than a week remaining before the Brevard College Athletic Department opens the 2011-2012 season, the Tornados hosted their annual fall sports kickoff, the Pigskin Pig-out.
Festivities at the Pig-out this year included live music by local band, The Carolina Blue Band, and the food received great reviews as Aramark catered the event, providing barbeque, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw and a number of assorted desserts.
Coaches Brenda Skeffington, Paul Hamilton, Juan Mascaro, Shigeyoshi Shinohara and Jack Daniels were special guest speakers at the event as they spoke about their teams and their upcoming seasons. Senior Amanda Metcalf also led the cheerleaders as they gathered support and got the crowd involved as they performed a cheer that will be heard throughout Brevard Memorial Stadium this season.
A multitude of raffle prizes were drawn, with prizes ranging from a two night stay at the Greystone Inn, to Silver Tornado Club Membership, to a brand CharBoil propane grill.
