Aiken, S.C. - Jamie Bundy and Elena Crowe both placed two shots on goal in the Tornados road opener in the 2011 season, but neither was able to find net as Brevard was downed on Wednesday evening by a pair of unassisted goals by USC Aiken in falling, 2-0.
Lizzie Graham placed the first shot of the game at the 4:01 mark for Brevard (0-3) and Jamie Bundy added a shot in the 21st minute, but USC Aiken (3-0) struck first at the 21:43 mark as Jameela Bryant found herself in a one-on-one situation against BC goalkeeper Crissy Moran and drilled home the first goal of the match in the left side of the net, putting the Pacers up 1-0.
Crowe and Bundy peppered Aiken goalkeeper Alli Edens throughout the remainder of the first half, but the Tornados went into the half still down 1-0.
Brevard attempted five shots in the second half, with three on target as Bailey Varley, Rachael Laughlin and Crowe aimed for the twine, but the Pacers were able to put the game away with a goal at the 73:55 mark as Kim Beyer put in on the back of the net, just underneath the crossbar from 25 yards out to give Aiken a 2-0 lead.
Neither team would score through the remainder of the contest as the Tornados fell for the third time in the 2011 season.
Brevard returns home to the BC Soccer Field on Saturday, September 10th, as they host Bluefield College. Kickoff between the Tornados and the Rams is set for 2 p.m.
