Brevard, N.C. - Brevard College President David Joyce announced today that Interim Athletic Director Juan Mascaro has accepted the full-time position as the College’s Athletic Director effective immediately.

"We couldn't be more pleased with Juan's decision to accept the position of Athletic Director and look forward to his continued leadership," said Joyce. "Juan’s commitment to Brevard College, its coaching staff and our student athletes will help us continue to provide a high quality program and experience both in and out of the classroom."

Mascaro, who was named interim athletic director in July, will continue to serve as the College’s Men’s Soccer coach.

"I will like to thank Dr. Joyce for providing me the opportunity to serve as Brevard College Athletic Director," said Mascaro. "I'm humbled and honored by this opportunity. I appreciate his confidence in me and my work."

"I would be remiss if I did not publicly recognize the unseen support and my athletic staff. With their help, we look forward to building a successful athletic program centered on both academic and athletic achievements."

In addition to heading the men’s soccer team, Mascaro had served as an associate athletic director at Brevard College for three years.

Mascaro came to Brevard in 2007 from Campbell University where he spent two seasons as the assistant Women’s Soccer coach. During his first season at Campbell, he helped the Fighting Camels advance to the 2005 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.

Prior to Campbell, he was the assistant Men’s Soccer coach for the University of Central Florida for five seasons. During his tenure, the Golden Knights were ranked as high as number-13 nationally and won the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.

A native of El Salvador, Mascaro earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and his Master of Arts in Applied Economics from the University of Central Florida. He currently holds his NSCAA National Coaching Diploma and Advanced National Diploma.
