Brevard, N.C. - Alice Klochkova recorded medalist honors as the Brevard College women’s golf team finished 17 strokes ahead of Spartanburg Methodist in recording their first team tournament title in program history.
Brevard recorded a two round score of 402-396 for a 798 to lead all teams involved in the tournament, recording the first win for the BC women’s golf program since the Tornados began competing in 2008.
Klochkova and Marliana Garman both earned podium finishes, with Klochkova continuing her dominance in tournaments hosted by Montreat as the senior from Moscow, Russia won her fourth consecutive tournament at Glen Cannon hosted by the Cavaliers after carding a two round score of 178 for the individual title.
"Alice has been outstanding in this event over the years," commented Coach David Nelson. "She was the very first female recruit we signed at Brevard, and a great one, I might add. I couldn’t be more pleased for Alice to go out on top this way. She has been a model player for this program from day one."
Garman also recorded her top individual season in her freshman campaign with Brevard, placing third overall in the event with a score of 193 to earn her first podium finish with the golf team.
Emily Smith was seven strokes back, finishing with a 200 in the two day event, while Allie Hovis and Ashley Allen both were in action for the Tornados in leading Brevard to the victory with two round scores of 217 and 227 to give Brevard the title.
The Tornados are back in action at the end of the month as they take part in the Cherokee Valley Spring Invitational hosted by North Greenville University. First round action begins on Monday, March 26th.
