Charlotte, N.C. - The Brevard College Tornados sent five members of the track and field team to the 49er Classic hosted by UNC-Charlotte over the weekend, taking on the field against members from both NCAA Division I and II institutions.
Savannah Sargent placed 53rd in the Women’s 400 meter event, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:06.08, while Heidi Kaartinen placed 65th overall in the Women’s 1,500 meter event, crossing the line with a time of 5:11.57.
On the men’s side, Erik Gibbs took on the field in the Men’s 1,500 meter event, crossing the line in 4:15.70 to place 60th overall, while Jordan Tager placed 53rd among the field in the Men’s 5,000 meter race finishing with a time of 16:04.06.
Kayce Martin also took part in the field, in the Men’s 400 meter hurdles, but recorded a DNF in the event.
Brevard is back in action on Saturday, March 24th as the Tornados take on the field at the Catamount Classic, hosted by Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C.
