Johnson City, Tenn. - Brevard College continued their run at the Johnson City Invitational by recording four top five finishes and one top 10 result in the final day of the event hosted by Milligan College.
Savannah Sargent recorded the best finish for the Tornados on the afternoon, tying Kayce Martin’s second place result in the 400 meter hurdles, in finishing second overall in the women’s 400 meter race. The BC sophomore crossed the line in a time of 1:02.83 to contribute eight points to Brevard’s standings.
Heidi Kaartinen continued the Brevard streak of top five finishes, coming in fifth overall in the women’s 1500 meter run, crossing the line with a time of 5:13.16 to add four points to the BC total.
Erik Gibbs added a top 10 finish for Brevard in the following men’s 1500 meter run, finishing with a time of 4:23.27 to place ninth in the event.
Kaartinen and Gibbs also added top five finishes in the women’s and men’s 800 meter events, with Kaartinen placing fifth overall with a time of 2:33.23, while Gibbs took third with a time of 2:01.02.
Brevard remains on the road as the Tornados travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take part in the Terrier Relays hosted by Wofford on Saturday, April 7th.
