Rock Hill, S.C. - After a season which saw the Tornados sweep conference opponents Lincoln Memorial, Newberry and Wingate, the Brevard College softball team is headed back to the postseason as BC earned their third berth in program history to the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament.
Brevard finished the regular season with a 23-22 record, 9-9 in South Atlantic Conference play in earning the six-seed in the postseason tournament, which will be held at Tusculum’s Red Edmonds Field, beginning on Thursday in Greeneville, Tenn.
Lenoir-Rhyne will be the top seed at the tournament after going 14-4 in the SAC to win the league’s regular-season title.
L-R swept a pair of games over Lincoln Memorial on Saturday to finish ahead of No. 2 seed Catawba – which finished 12-5 -- in the final SAC standings.
The Bears’ conference title is the program’s third in a row and eighth overall. L-R enters the SAC Championship with an overall record of 42-11.
Anderson swept Tusculum on Saturday and will be the Championship’s No. 3 seed. In just the program’s second year of competition in the SAC, the Trojans made a significant jump after finishing ninth in the SAC a year ago.
