Conover, N.C. - Alisiya Klochkova closed out the first day of her final tournament with Brevard College sitting 30th overall at the 2012 Food Lion SAC Women’s Golf Tournament, while Brevard is ninth overall on the day finishing the total with a score of 773 at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa.
Newberry College leads the way on the tournament, sitting at 618 after the first two rounds, led by tournament leader Maria Luz Besio (4-over par) and second place finisher Lisa Brandl (9-over par) for the day.
Klochkova opened the first round of the day, finishing with a birdie on hole seven, in finishing the first 18 holes with a score of 83, 12-over par to sit in a tie for 23rd overall. In the following second round, Klochkova recorded a 46 on the front nine and followed with a 42 on the back nine in finishing the afternoon with an 88, sitting 30th overall with a 171, 29-over par on the afternoon.
Emily Smith sits second among the BC athletes placed on the course by Coach David Nelson, finishing the first 18 holes with a score of 91. The Brevard freshman followed by cutting three strokes off her total in the second round to finish with an 88, finishing 37-over par with a 179 to sit 39th overall.
Marlaina Garman took on the course as well, finishing the first round with a score of 97, improving on one stroke in the second round with a 96 to finish with a score of 51-over par on the afternoon. The total put the freshman in sole possession of 45th overall on the day.
Allie Hovis and Kelsey Wyatt rounded out the group finishing the first day in 49th and 50th place in the tournament. Hovis carded a two round 230 on the afternoon, while Wyatt finished up the day with a score of 294 on the day.
Final round action at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa begins tomorrow morning as the 10 South Atlantic Conference teams close out the 2012 Food Lion SAC Tournament.
