Brevard, N.C. - Brevard College Head Golf Coach David Nelson is pleased to announce Bridget Abee has committed to come to Brevard and play on the 2012-2013 Tornados women’s golf team.
Abee comes to Brevard from Connelly Springs, N.C. and East Burke High School, where she played under Coach Katie Bollinger. Abee was a member of the Catawba Valley Jr. Golf Tour in 2011-2012 and was a member of the 2009 and 2010 East Burke HS County Women’s Golf Championship teams.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have Bridget join the BC family," commented Coach Nelson. "She will be a key player in the years to come as we continue to build our program."
Abee was a four-time NCHSAA Western Regional qualifier with the Cavaliers and a three-time All-Burke County Women’s Golf Team selection, including a fourth place selection overall in the 2009 All-Burke County Women’s Golf Team.
In 2011, she was an NCHSAA 2A Women’s State Championship qualifier. She was also a two-time Team MVP selection, earning recognition among the Cavaliers’ golfers in 2008 and 2011.
"We worked hard recruiting Bridget to Brevard. Her family background is solid, and I'm confident her passion for the game comes from the family as her brother is a PGA professional," said Nelson. "She possesses great length as a ball striker, which will serve her well at the next level of her playing career. Along with Victoria Campbell, we feel our 2012 recruiting class is our best yet."
Off the course, Abee is a recipient of both the North Carolina Association of Educators/Burke County Scholarship and the National Wild Turkey Federation/Foothills Chapter Ed Andrews Memorial Scholarship. She is also a member of Icard’s Grove Baptist Church in Connelly Springs.
She is the daughter of Bill and Deanna Abee.
Brevard College competes as a member of the NCAA Division II and the South Atlantic Conference.
