Brevard, N.C.- The Brevard College women’s soccer team cruised to a 7-0 victory over Virginia Intermont College in their 2012 home opener on Saturday afternoon.
Currin Sessions, Taylor Hembree and Claire Deese all recorded their first collegiate goals, while Hembree and Deese found the net twice against the Cobras.
Sessions put the Tornados on the board early, dribbling past the defense and scoring at the 3:19 mark in the first half to make it 1-0. Chantel Azevedo was a big part of the offense as well, netting a goal at the 21:18 mark and assisting Hembree’s first goal at 24:50.
Sophomore Lizzie Graham punched in a goal for the Tornados at 27:03 to make it 4-0, shortly before Hembree found the net for her second goal at 28:22.
Deese added two quick goals late in the first half, the first at 38:41 and the second at 39:11 to give the Tornados a commanding 7-0 lead.
Brevard poured in 24 shots on the afternoon, seven of which were on goal.
The win improved the Tornados to 1-0-1 on the season. They return to action on the road on Wednesday, September 5th against King College at 4 p.m.
