Charlotte, N.C.-The Tornados dropped a 5-0 contest to the Queens University Royals Wednesday evening at the Queens Sports Complex in Charlotte.
Efren D. Escobar, Junior Montano and Joel Jalanne each recorded shots for the Tornados but weren’t able to find the back of the net.
Felipe Netto wasted little time putting Queens University in the lead, scoring an unassisted goal 34 seconds into the game. Netto then made it 2-0 in the 15th minute, this time from the right side on an assist from Jeremy Chambers. The Royals would hold a 5-0 lead by the time the first half was over.
The Tornados turned it up defensively in the second half, holding Queens scoreless over the final 45 minutes.
Jack Shaw started the game in goal for the Tornados, and recorded three saves in the contest. Freshman goalie Juan Mascaro Jr. showed promise late in the game, keeping the Royals off the board and recording a save in over 17 minutes of action.
