Bluefield, Va.- Bluefield College's Erik Albarran scored the golden at 104:13 in the second overtime to sink the Tornados in a heartbreaking loss at Bluefield on Saturday evening.
Efren D. Escobar gave the Tornados a 1-0 lead at the 22:20 mark with the assist coming from a Jami Uutu free kick. The BC defense was solid for most of the game, holding Bluefield scoreless until late in the second half.
Bluefield knotted the game at 1-1 with a Nick Rivandeneira goal at 82:19. The two teams battled for the remainder of the second half, but neither team could find an edge and the game went into overtime.
The first overtime period went scoreless, but Albarran struck midway into the second overtime with the game winner.
The Tornados put up 19 shots against Bluefield keeper Jefferson Watson in the game, including ten that landed on goal.
The Tornados return to South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday, September 22nd when they take on Anderson University at 4:30 p.m. BC currently sits in a four-way tie for first place in the conference standings.
