Brevard, N.C.- The Brevard College women’s soccer team was edged 1-0 by the Pfeiffer Falcons on Saturday afternoon.
Pfeiffer’s Kayla Rodriguez scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 39th minute of the first half.
Rodriguez dribbled outside of the box, drilling the ball home to the upper right side of the net at 38:03 to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
BC fired seven shots in the match, with only one landing on goal. Lizzie Graham fired the shot on goal for a chance to tie the game late in the second half. Graham sent the ball towards the goal 72nd minute, but Pfeiffer keeper Bianca Moeller collected it for the save.
Tornados keeper Brittany Webster warded off a number of Pfeiffer scoring opportunities throughout the game, saving five shots on the afternoon. Webster now has 128 saves in the 2012 campaign.
The Tornados women’s soccer team celebrated the careers of their four seniors with a ceremony at halftime. Defender Hannah Graham, forward Teresa Musick, forward Chantel Azevedo, and midfielder Carolyn Anderson were all escorted to midfield and recognized for their accomplishments both on and off the field during their careers at Brevard College.
The Tornados play their final home game of the 2012 season on Wednesday, October 24th as they host South Atlantic Conference opponent Newberry College at 4 p.m.
