Misenheimer, N.C.- The Brevard College Tornados fell 85-57 to the Pfeiffer University Falcons in their season opener on Wednesday night in Merner Gym.

Pfeiffer scored 15 of the first 21 points to begin the second half to jump out to a 54-28 lead, putting the game out of reach for BC. Four Falcons scored in double figures, led by a 20-point performance by senior Brittany Cox.

The Falcons opened the game on a 14-3 run, and would lead by as many as 12 points before Brevard scored six unanswered points to cut the Pfeiffer lead to six. BC’s Micheala Watkins capped off the run with a three-point play at the 5:08 mark in the first half.

Shelby Wolfe hit a pair of free throws to help keep the Tornados within six points with 3:01 left in the opening half before the Falcons closed out the half on a 13-2 run. The Falcons took a 39-22 lead into the break.

A bright spot for the Tornados was their production off the bench, most notably from Brackett and Taylor Hiatt. Brackett scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Hiatt added six points to a game-high nine rebounds.

Watkins also scored in double figures for Tornados, dropping in 13 points to go with three rebounds.

Brevard is back on the court this weekend for the Union Lady Bulldog Classic in Jackson, Tennessee. BC takes on the Lady Bulldogs on Friday night at 7 p.m., and will turn around to play Delta State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
