Mount Olive, N.C.- The Brevard College Tornados fell 65-30 to the Mount Olive College Trojans at Kornegay Arena on Wednesday evening.
Mount Olive's Tamara Nesmith dropped a game-high 18 points while pulling down 10 rebounds and dishing out six assists to lead the Trojans, who improved to 5-0 at home this season.
Brevard struggled offensively to start the game, and didn't find the net until a Micheala Watkins three-point play at the 14:41 mark in the first half. BC's scoring drought allowed the Trojans to establish an early 12-3 lead.
Mount Olive continued to thrive in the first half, later using an 11-2 push their lead out to 23-7. Brevard's troubles remained throughout the first half, and the Trojans closed the opening half on a 10-0 run to take a 42-15 lead into the break.
Watkins hit a three-pointer to open the second half for Brevard while the Tornados held Mount Olive scoreless for almost first three minutes to start the half. The Trojans, however, would answer Watkins' trey with a 9-2 run to take a 54-20 lead to stifle any BC momentum.
Watkins led Brevard with eight points, while Candice Fritz pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
BC returns to South Atlantic Conference action as they visit the Catawba College Indians on January 9th. Tipoff from Goodman Gym is scheduled for 6 p.m.
