Brevard, N.C. – Hannah Cook of the women’s cross country team and Jaquan Marsh of the football team have been named the Sports Spot Student-Athletes of the Month for November. The award is presented by Sports Spot, in conjunction with the Brevard College Athletic Department.
Cook was voted the Female Student-Athlete of the Month by the BC Head Coaching staff over fellow nominees Sydney Yeomans of volleyball and Micheala Watkins of basketball.
Cook receives the award after pacing the Tornados with a 23rd place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships on November 3rd. Cook helped BC to a school-record 18th place finish in the region, and earned a spot on the NCAA Southeast All-Region Team.
Marsh was voted the Men’s Student-Athlete of the Month by the BC Head Coaching staff over fellow nominees Jordan Ollis of football and Dominique Pickett of basketball.
Marsh is a first-time winner of the Athlete of the Month honors after rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown in two games, including a 27-13 win over Newberry to end the season. Marsh also threw for 56 yards and a touchdown last month. The Goose Creek, South Carolina native was named South Atlantic Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year by the conference office on November 13th.
These two athletes will be presented with action shots recognizing their award, which will be displayed in the lobby of Boshamer Gymnasium for the entire school year. A total of eight female and male Sports Spot Athletes of the Month will be selected in the 2012-2013 academic year. The award is selected from qualified candidates each month by the athletic department staff.
