Salisbury, N.C.- The Brevard Tornados women's basketball team fell 64-46 to the Catawba College Indians in Goodman Gym in their return to South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday night.
The Tornados put together a 10-4 run to take a 34-33 lead at the 17:04 mark in the second half before Catawba's Antoinette McPhail hit a pair of free throws to give Catawba the lead for good on the Indians next possession.
The Indians responded with eight unanswered points to push their lead to 42-34. Catawba had three players score in double figures on the night, including a team-high 19 points from Chloe Bully.
Brevard's Tuccoa Brackett led all scorers with 20 points, and also pulled down eight rebounds. The freshman dropped in 12 points in the first half to send Brevard into the break trailing by only two points at 26-24.
Brevard started the game three-for-three from beyond the arc to take a 9-7 lead early, but the Tornados missed their other eight tries from three-point range in the game. The Tornados never led by more than two points in the contest.
The Tornados are back on the court as they host the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Saturday, January 12th. Tipoff from Boshamer Gymnasium is set for 2 p.m.
