Brevard, N.C.- The Brevard College women's basketball team dropped a 71-53 contest to the Carson-Newman Eagles in Boshamer Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
Shyra Brown scored a game-high 19 points to go with a game-high 14 rebounds to front the Eagles attack. Tatum Burstrom and Courne Miles also scored in double figures for Carson-Newman, finishing with 12 and 14 points, respectively. Miles also tallied a double-double with 11 rebounds.
Carson-Newman held a 49-31 advantage on the glass in the contest, and benefited from 10 second chance points.
The Eagles jumped out to a lead early, and controlled the first half to gain a 37-27 advantage at the break.
Micheala Watkins led BC offensively with 16 points, three assists and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman Tuccoa Brackett had 14 points for the Tornados, going 5-of-11 from the floor.
The Tornados look to rebound as they square off with the Tusculum Pioneers on Saturday afternoon for the first time this season. Tip-off from Pioneer Arena is scheduled for 2 p.m.
