Greeneville, Tenn.- The Tusculum College men’s basketball team engineered an 11-point second half rally to upend Brevard 66-64 Saturday afternoon in Pioneer Arena.
With the Tornados leading 64-58 with 3:43 left in the contest, the Pioneers scored the final eight points of the game to complete the rally.
Dominique Pickett's layup with 3:43 left were BC's final points, and gave BC a six point lead. TC pulled within two after Addison Flynn and Matt Shown scored back-to-back baskets to make it 64-62 with 2:42 remaining.
Tusculum's Keith Jumper drew a foul with 1:36 left and made one free throw and missed the second, but Nick Spinks came down with the offensive rebound. Spinks missed his layup, but Chase Ward-McEwen pulled the rebound and scored the go-ahead basket with 1:08 remaining.
Brevard failed to score on their next posession and were forced to foul. Jumper hit his first from the line before missing the second, giving the Tornados a shot to tie or take the lead.
Brevard held for the final shot and Dominique Pickett went for the win with a three-pointer from the top of the key, but his shot hit off the left side of the rim to end the game.
Pickett paced the Tornados with 16 points, while Alex Moe added 15 points. Manzey Miller and Miles Leather each had 12, while Leathers added a team-high nine rebounds.
Brevard returns home on Wednesday to host Catawba in Boshamer Gymnasium at 8 p.m.
