Brevard, N.C- Manzey Miller's game-winning three-point attempt rimmed out in the final seconds of Brevard’s 73-71 loss to Lincoln Memorial to halt the Tornados second-half comeback.on Wednesday night in Boshamer Gym.
Miles Leathers pulled down the rebound of a missed free throw by LMU’s Chance Jones before the Tornados held for the last shot.
The Tornados were down 13 points early in the second half before clawing back into the game using runs of 8-2 and later 9-2 to pull within two points at 63-61 with 3:33 left in the game.
A three from Gerel Simmons brought the Tornados to within a point with 1:18 left in the game, but that was as close as the Tornados would come to catching the Railsplitters.
Leathers led the Tornados with 20 points and seven rebounds, and finished 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. Dominique Pickett, Alex Moe and Miller also finished in double figures for BC.
Miller distributed a career-high eight assists to only one turnover.
The Tornados are back in action as they travel to Hickory to take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in Shuford Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The Bears took the first game of the season series 70-64 in Boshamer Gymnasium on January 12th.
LMU will travel to Anderson on Saturday looking to avenge a 67-66 loss at home to the Trojans earlier this season.
