Hilton Head, S.C- The Brevard College women’s tennis team won the final two matches of the annual Spring Break trip, defeating Findlay 5-4 on Friday and Assumption 7-2 on Thursday, to leave Hilton Head at 2-3 for the week.
The Tornados grinded out a 5-4 win over Findlay on Friday to finish the week, thanks to undefeated afternoons from Michelle Prata and Claire Dillman. Both won their singles matches before pairing to down Viktoriya Shkola and Jessica Adkins 8-2 on doubles court no. 1.
BC’s Elise Labus beat Adkins 6-0 and 6-1 on singles court no. 4, and Nirvana Silva edged Abigail Herrera 7-5 and 6-4 on singles court no. 5 to help push BC past the Oilers.
On Thursday, Brevard handled Assumption with relative ease in the 7-2 victory over the Greyhounds.
Prata and Dillman won their singles matches before breezing past Erica Micciche and Cassy Waung 8-1 on the no. 1 doubles court. Katie Ouellette and Labus also won their singles matches before dropping Meg Hall and Paige Gilet 8-2 on the no. 2 doubles court.
Silva also handled her business on singles court 5, earning a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Melanie McCauley to help BC earn its first win of the week.
The Tornados struggled to start the week, falling 9-0 to Palm Beach Atlantic on Monday, 7-2 against Ashford on Tuesday, and 9-0 to Florida Tech on Wednesday before hitting their stride against Assumption on Thursday.
Dillman picked up two victories in the match against Ashford, defeating Adriana Obando 6-2 and 6-0 on singles court no. 2, before teaming with Prata on doubles court no. 1 to handle Obando and Jessica Albers 8-2.
BC is back in action as they visit Queens University for a 1 p.m. match with the Royals on March 13th.
