Brevard, N.C.- The Brevard College Tornados baseball team was swept in a doubleheader with the King College Tornado on Tuesday afternoon, falling 6-4 in game one before the Tornados went down 9-7 in extra innings despite a late rally.
Game 1: King 6, Brevard 4
The Tornados scored in each of the first three innings to take a 4-1 lead against King starter Chris Dixon, but King responded with five runs over the final three innings to earn a 6-4 win in the opener.
Kody Spencer finished 2-for-3 to lead the Tornados, while Cody Queen, Erice Renegar and Chris Christopoulos each drove in runs in the loss.
Game 2: King 9, Brevard 7
BC tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the 7th inning to send the game into extra innings, but King scored a pair of runs to steal the win in the top of the 8th inning against reliever Chas Welch (L, 0-1).
Eric Renegar scored on a fielding error in the 7th before Bennett Hixson drove in the game tying runs with a single up the middle.
Brevard took a 1-0 lead on a Spencer sac fly in the bottom of the 1st, but played the rest of the game from behind after King posted three runs in the top of the 3rd against BC starter Tyler Lequire.
The Tornados return to action as they host Young Harris tomorrow afternoon at Gil Coan Field at 3 p.m.
