Wilson, N.C.- Kim Koivu shot four-under par on day two to finish tied for 5th individually, leading the Brevard College men’s golf team to a 6th place finish at the Barton Intercollegiate Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Wilson Country Club.
The Tornados carded a 310 on Monday, but shaved off 11 strokes to finish with a 299 on Tuesday in the 14-team event. BC edged California University of Pennsylvania by one stroke to take 6th place in the final team standings with a 609.
Koivu shot a 78 on Monday before cutting 10 strokes to card a 68 on Tuesday, the second-lowest score from the field of 79 on day two.
Sami Vanni and Johan Nordahl both finished the tournament in the top 40, shooting a 154 and 155, respectively.
The men’s golf team is back on the course as they compete in the Cherokee Valley Invitational in Travelers Rest, South Carolina on March 25th and 26th.
