Greeneville, Tenn.- The Brevard College women’s tennis team dropped a 6-3 match with the Tusclum College Pioneers on Tuesday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
Claire Dillman and Michelle Prata went undefeated on the afternoon for BC, but the Tornados couldn’t overcome a 2-1 deficit following doubles play.
The pair triumphed 8-0 over Kate Hutchinson and Megan Buckmaster on the first doubles court before winning their singles matches. Dillman topped Hutchinson 6-2, 6-3 on the number one singles while Prata edged Taylor Patterson in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 on the second singles court.
The Pioneers clinched the second seed in next week's Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament with the win, while the Tornados remain in the hunt to lock a spot.
The BC women are back in action on Wednesday afternoon as they travel to Mars Hill for a match with the Lions at the Hart Tennis Center at 1 p.m. The Tornados close the season at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Friday at 1 p.m. as they host Carson-Newman.
