Brevard, N.C. – Claire Dillman of the women’s tennis team and Champ Stuart of the baseball team have been named the Sports Spot Student-Athletes of the Month for March. The award is presented by Sports Spot, in conjunction with the Brevard College Athletic Department.
Dillman was voted the Female Student-Athlete of the Month by the BC Head Coaching staff over Kayla Clemens and Alyssa Miller of the softball team.
The senior wins her third career Athlete of the Month award after compiling a 9-2 singles record in March, and closing the month on a seven-match singles win streak. Dillman also went 4-0 in singles action against South Atlantic Conference opponents on the month.
Stuart was voted the Men’s Student-Athlete of the Month by the BC Head Coaching staff over David Taggart of the men’s tennis team and Kim Koivu of the men’s golf team.
Stuart wins his first career Athlete of the Month award after reaching base safely in all 23 games in March, including a nine-game hit streak from March 13th-26th. Stuart hit .333 (25-for-75) while scoring 26 runs and stealing 28 bases for the month.
These two athletes will be presented with action shots recognizing their award, which will be displayed in the lobby of Boshamer Gymnasium for the entire school year. A total of eight female and male Sports Spot Athletes of the Month will be selected in the 2012-2013 academic year. The award is selected from qualified candidates each month by the athletic department staff.
