TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Brevard College sophomore transfer Sarah Fonger picked up her second goal of the year, but it wasn’t enough as North Greenville handed BC its first loss of the season, 3-1, Saturday night in Tigerville, S.C.
The Crusaders reached the .500 mark with the victory and is 2-2 on the year while the Tornados suffered their first loss of the 2013 campaign and sit at 3-1 on the year. North Greenville has won three consecutive matches against BC.
The Crusaders Lindsay Tuten found the back of the net in the 15th minute to give North Greenville an early 1-0 advantage.
The match remained scoreless until the 48th minute when Courtney Etheridge bested Brittany Webster to extend the lead to 2-0. Tuten struck again in the 54th minute to seal the victory and make it a 3-0 contest.
However, the Tornados cracked the scoreboard and avoided its first shutout when Fonger buried a shot past Taylor Kelley in the 87th minute.
BC was held to four shots while North Greenville had seven. The Crusaders held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks while both goalies finished the night with three saves.
The Tornados look to rebound against USC-Aiken Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Aiken, S.C.
