GREENEVILLE, Tenn.- Brevard College men’s golfer Sami Vanni finished 3rd (-6) at the Tusculum Fall Classic this week to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
The sophomore carded a 67 on Monday and a 69 on Tuesday to combine for a 136 in the two-day, 36-hole tournament hosted by Tusculum College on the par-71 Link Hills Country Club.
“This was a breakout moment for Sami, he's been working so hard and finally produced scores he's capable of shooting,” head coach Dave Nelson stated. “This was the first consecutive sub-par rounds in tournament play for him at Brevard, and I couldn't be more pleased for such an outstanding player and individual.”
The Tornados finished 7th out of the 12-team field with a 587, just two strokes behind Catawba College.
BC got another solid performance from freshman Sebastian Strehl (+7) , who shot a 73 on Tuesday to improve from a 76 on Monday. Rounding out BC's performers were freshman Okar Lundgren (+9), and sophomores Brett Hawken (+10) and Paul Calac (+14).
“For us to finish right in the middle of the pack considering how young we are, I’m very encouraged,” added Nelson.
The Tornados continue their fall season next week as they enter the King Fall Invitational from September 30-October 1 in Bristol, Tennessee.
