The Tornados have dropped consecutive 1-0 decisions to Newberry

NEWBERRY S.C.- The Brevard College women’s soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to the hands of Newberry in South Atlantic Conference action Wednesday afternoon at Smith Park Complex in Newberry, S.C.

The Wolves improved to 4-2, 2-1 SAC and defeated BC by a 1-0 score for the second consecutive season while earning their fourth shutout victory on the season. The Tornados dropped their fourth straight match to fall to 3-4, 0-2 SAC on the season while being blanked for the second time in three matches.

“Newberry is a tough team…Our game plan that we try to set up for the girls, they try to execute it and I’m very happy about that,” said head coach Shigeyoshi Shinohara. “I believe the girls worked hard. We have the ingredients…This loss is my responsibility. I’m happy the way we worked today.”

The Wolves Brayden Miller scored the games’ lone goal in the 42nd minute when she clanked a shot off the post and into the net from 10 yards out.

The Tornados Alyssa Bois paced the offense with two shots while the team accumulated six shots total. The Wolves fired 13 shots while goalkeeper Rebecca Darley recorded one save. BC netminder Brittany Webster stonewalled three shots on the afternoon.

The Tornados travel to Carson-Newman Saturday for a SAC match that is slated to begin at 5 p.m. in Jefferson City, Tenn.
