CULLOWHEE, N.C.- Tuccoa Brackett and Katie Williams recorded double figures in Brevard College women's basketball exhibition in a 72-52 loss at Western Carolina in the Ramsey Center in Cullowhee, N.C.
The Tornados jumped out to an early 9-4 lead following a three-pointer from Taylor Hiatt and a layup from Brackett. However, the Catamounts responded with a 31-8 run while the BC offense was held without a field goal for over 12 minutes.
BC wouldn't back down while it ended the half on a 13-2 run to make it a 37-30 game at the half.
WCU shot 46.8% from the field in the first 20 minutes while BC was held to a 21.9 percentage.
The second half was back-and-forth battle until the Catamounts ripped off a 20-4 run to make it 63-38.
Both teams exchanged buckets to finish the game, 72-52. Brackett enjoyed a solid second half while she scored eight straight points for the Tornados at one point.
Brackett finished with 16 points while Williams enjoyed a 14-point, four-assist and no-turnover performance. Shelby Wolfe fell a bucket short of a double-double (12 rebounds, eight points).
BC forced 18 turnovers and went 21-31 from the charity stripe while WCU knocked down 15-of-26 free throws.
The Tornados return to action for their regular season opener Nov. 11 when North Georgia visits Boshamer Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
