ASHEVILLE, N.C.- The Brevard College men’s basketball team fell 86-45 in an exhibition game with the UNC Asheville Bulldogs in Kimmel Arena on Monday night.
Senior Dominique Pickett led the Tornados offensive with 13 points while pulling down a team-high six rebounds. Brevard’s Miles Leathers also grabbed six boards and distributed a team-high four assists.
Junior Darius Moose also finished in double figures for the Tornados, tallying 10 points and four assists.
A three pointer from Dominique Pickett gave Brevard their first points and a 3-2 lead early in the first half before Asheville used nine unanswered points to go in front 11-3.
From there the Bulldogs worked a staggering height advantage inside, outscoring the Tornados 50-25 in the paint and outrebounding BC 54-27 for the game. Asheville converted their 27 offensive rebounds into 27 second chance points.
Asheville led 43-17 at the break thanks largely to Jaron Lane, who scored all 10 of his points in the first half. Asheville’s Andrew Rowsey scored a game-high 17 points as four Bulldogs scored in double figures.
The Tornados will open regular season play at home against the Lees-McRae College Bobcats on November 13th. Tip from Boshamer Gymnasium is scheduled for 7 p.m.
