Brevard, N.C. - The Brevard College men’s basketball team will play their second and final exhibition game on Friday night, as the Tornados will travel to Radford, Va. to take on NCAA Division II and Big South member Radford University.
This is the second game in a week in which the Tornados have played a member of the Big South Conference, having played against Gardner-Webb University in the exhibition opener on Tuesday night.
The Tornados fell to the Runnin’ Bulldogs 62-52, but were in the game for the entire 40 minutes of play. Coach Jones’ squad held GWU to 27.6 % shooting and only 26 points in the second half and got within one point at the 5:11 mark at 49-48.
Radford will be another challenge for the Tornados, as the Highlanders were picked second in the Big South Pre-Season Coaches Poll. Radford, who returns all five starters and four double-figure scorers from last year’s squad, was picked by the Sporting News to win the Big South title, while junior Joey Lynch-Flohr was named to the preseason all-conference squad as released in the publication’s College Basketball Preview.
While the game is an exhibition for Brevard, the contest on Friday night is the 2008-09 regular season opener for Radford.
