RADFORD, Va.- The Brevard College men’s basketball team fell 105-57 to the Radford University Highlanders in the Dedmon Center on Saturday afternoon.
Miles Leathers scored 18 points to pace Brevard offensively, going 6-for-10 from the field and 5-for-8 from the foul line. Dominique Pickett and Manzey Miller also finished in double figures, finishing with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Radford was able to get out to an early advantage thanks in part to solid perimeter shooting. The Highlanders hit nine of their first 12 shots, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc on their way to a 25-6 lead at the second media timeout.
Radford’s Javonte Green scored 13 points in the first half to help the Highlanders took a 57-25 lead into the break. Green led all scorers with 22 points, going 9-for-11 from the field with seven rebounds.
Radford worked a height advantage inside, outscoring Brevard 56-22 in the paint and holding a 46-24 advantage on the glass.
The Torandos open South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday night as they visit the Anderson University Trojans. Tipoff from the Abney Athletic Center is set for 8 p.m.
