BREVARD, N.C.- The Brevard College men’s basketball team returns to conference play on Saturday afternoon as they host the Queens University Royals for a South Atlantic Conference matchup at 4 p.m in Boshamer Gymnasium.
The Tornados (1-6, 1-3 SAC) are looking to rebound from a nonconference loss at Fayetteville State on Saturday afternoon.
BC Freshman Trevon Shaw lifted his season-high in scoring for third consecutive game after dropping 25 points against the Broncos. Shaw has scored in double figures in each of the last three games, and is averaging 18.3 points per game during that span.
Two Tornados sit in the top ten in the league in scoring as Darius Moose (18.4 ppg) and Dominique Pickett (16.0 ppg) are 7th and 10th, respectively.
Queens (3-4, 2-2) is entering their first year as a member of the SAC after leaving Conference Carolinas following last season. The Royals collected their first conference win over fellow newcomer Coker on November 26th, and are coming off a 20-point win over Tusculum on Saturday.
Queens’ Jarrett Stokes is 6th in the SAC in scoring, entering Saturday averaging 20.4 points per contest. The senior guard is coming off a season-high 33-point outburst in the win over Tusculum.
The Royals enter Saturday’s contest as the stingiest defense in the league, and allow only 66.7 points per game. Opponents are shooting just 38.4 percent from the field against Queens.
The second meeting between the two teams is set for February 8th in Queens’ Curry Arena.
