ANCHORAGE, Alsaska-The Brevard College women’s basketball team fell to the Cameron University Aggies 76-55 despite a second half comeback in their final game of the AT& Hoops Classic at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex on Saturday night.
BC’s Chelsea Turner hit a three on the opening possession of the second half to cut the Aggies lead to 10 before the Tornados eventually made it a nine-point game on a three from Hadara Bannister with 12:04 left in the game.
The Tornados, however, couldn’t get any closer after Cameron pushed the lead back to double digits with five unanswered points following the Bannister three.
Madison Lenox led the way for BC with 13 points, and added five rebounds. Shelby Wolfe chipped in 10 points and a game-high seven rebounds for the Tornados.
The Tornados led early in the first half before Cameron scored 10 unanswered points to break a tie game and take a 23-13 advantage. Cameron grabbed the momentum during the run and pushed their lead to 13 at the break.
Four Aggies finished in double figures, led by a game-high 21 points from Chelsea Stamp. Jade Herl dropped 14 while Jazzmine Robinson and Christina Caddy both had 10 points.
Bannister and Katie Williams both scored nine points, and Bannister also recorded a career-high five assists.
The women return to action in 2014 when they resume South Atlantic Conference play on January 4th at Coker College. Tipoff from Timeberlake-Lawton Gym is set for 2 p.m.
