BREVARD, N.C.- Brevard College’s Shelby Wolfe helped the Tornados to a 91-68 victory over the Tusculum College Pioneers with career-highs in both points and rebounds in Boshamer Gymnasium on Wednesday night, notching a 23-point, 12-rebound double-double in South Atlantic Conference action.
The sophomore scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the first half on the way to her second double-double of the season. Wolfe finished 8-for-14 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
The Tornados never trailed thanks to a 15-3 run to start the game, and closed the first half with 10 unanswered points to take a commanding 50-30 lead into the break.
Hadara Bannister also notched her career-high in the scoring column, dropping 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three assists. The sophomore had a game-high 14 points in the first half.
The Tornados didn't let their lead slip below 17 at any point in the second half.
BC scored a season-high 91 points after shooting 45 percent (27-of-60) from the field on the night, their top shooting performance in conference play this season.
Freshman Madison Lenox added 15 points in her second career start for the Tornados, going 5-for-9 from the field and 4-6 from the charity stripe.
Brevard’s defense, who limited Tusculum to a season-low 55 points in their first meeting, held the Pioneers to a 34.4 shooting percentage from the field (21-for-61) to complete the season sweep.
Blakeley Burleson led the Pioneers with 18 points, while Nequoiah Anderson added 11 points and Shynese Whitener had 10 points and five assists.
The Tornados look to build on the win on Saturday afternoon as they host the Catawba College Indians in Boshamer Gymnasium at 2 p.m.
