HICKORY, N.C.- Brevard College women’s basketball couldn’t rally from an early deficit in a 68-57 loss to the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in Shuford Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Jazmine Charles immediately set the pace with a three-pointer on the Bears (15-4, 10-4 SAC) first possession, and L-R held Brevard (5-13, 4-10 SAC) scoreless until the 15:33 mark.
Shelby Wolfe got BC on the board with a lay-up, but the Bears started the game on a 17-2 run and would lead by as many as 22 points late in the first half.
The Tornados started to trim the lead with a 10-2 run midway through the second half before L-R answered with six unanswered points to put the game out of reach.
Brevard’s Madison Lenox paced BC with 13 points, while Chelsea Turner added 12 points and Wolfe finished with 11 points.
Brevard returns to action on Wednesday night as they travel to Mars Hill University for a 6 p.m. tipoff with the Lions in Stanford Arena.
