MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.-The Brevard College softball team was swept by the Georgia College Bobcats at the Peeler Complex on Tuesday afternoon, losing 11-3 in the opener and 9-0 in the nightcap.
Game 1: Georgia College 11, Brevard 3
The Tornados jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning on a Lauren Parker run-scoring infield single followed by a Kinsey Parrish two-run double to center field.
The Bobcats answered with a ten-run 4th inning on 10 hits and two BC fielding errors against BC hurlers Jamie Hrobak (L, 4-3) and Casey Whitaker . Hrobak was saddled with six earned runs while none of the five runs scored against Whitaker were earned.
The Bobcats tacked on a run in the bottom of the 5th to qualify for the mercy rule.
Game 2: Georgia College 9, Brevard 0
Georgia College starter Carly Lewis (W, 4-1) held BC to just three hits in the run-rule shortened game two while the Bobcats scored in each of the first three innings.
Alyssa Miller (L, 1-2) allowed nine runs (six earned) in two innings before being lifted in favor of Hrobak, who held the Bobcats scoreless for two innings as the BC offense continued to struggle.
Singles by Parker, Parrish and Dallas Heaton were the only base runners the Tornados had in the game.
The Tornados are back in action this weekend as they enter the Mid-South Classic in Spartanburg, S.C. The Tornados will play five games beginning on Friday
