BREVARD, N.C.-Senior Dominique Pickett poured in a game-high 29 points in his final game at Brevard College while junior Darius Moose scored his 1,000th career point in a 90-73 loss to the Wingate Bulldogs in Saturday’s season finale in Boshamer Gymnasium.
Moose became the sixth player in school history to score 1,000 career points, working his way into the elite club on a three-point play at the 12:00 mark in the second half. The redshirt junior finished with 12 points and three rebounds.
Pickett was an efficient 10-for-13 from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, to go along with a pair of assists. Trevon Shaw finished off an impressive freshman campaign with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with two assists and two rebounds.
After falling behind by 26 late in the second half, the Tornados engineered a 20-7 run to trim their deficit to 13 on a three-pointer from Moose with 6:32 to go in the game. Pickett had ten points during the stretch, including seven straight for BC, but the Bulldogs ultimately pushed their lead back out to 19 with a 9-3 run.
The Tornados shot a scorching 68 percent (17-for-24) in the second half, but the Bulldogs 24-point halftime lead proved to be too much for BC to overcome.
Four Bulldogs finished in double figures, paced by 22 points from Ryan Daye.
